OMATAPALO reopened today at Quiminha Farm, 40 kilometers from Luanda, a compound feed (animal feed) factory for poultry, pigs, and cattle. With a production capacity of 100 tons of feed per day and a total of 26,000 tons per year, the production from this facility will primarily be aimed at animal producers in the Luanda and Bengo regions.

The reopening ceremony of the feed factory was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, António Francisco de Assis.

Overall, OMATAPALO has restored a two-hectare project area, consisting of a factory and storage silos, with quality control of raw materials and finished products being conducted in an external laboratory using NIR technology. The investment made exceeded USD 120,000.

The corn and soybeans, which will serve as the base for the feeds, will predominantly and preferably originate from the group’s own agricultural production. This will significantly contribute to reducing the need for feed imports and boosting poultry, livestock, and egg production in the country. The factory will have the capacity to deliver bulk products as well as 30 kg bags.

“With this factory, with a production capacity of 10 tons per hour, Quiminha Farm reinforces its objective of contributing to the production of locally sourced feed with quality and competitive prices, while reducing dependence on imports,” said an official source from Omatapalo.

Quiminha Farm has a community project covering 10,000 hectares managed by Sociedade Agrícola da Mumba, with approximately 50 hectares of open vegetable fields, eight 1-hectare greenhouses, and ten 63-hectare pivot irrigation systems.

Quiminha Farm employs around 250 collaborators and ensures a production of 6,000 tons/year of corn and 5,000 tons/year of onions. As part of their strategic social responsibility plan, the farm has formed partnerships with the community, including providing technical training and distributing fertilizers and seeds to support local producers in marketing their produce.
