The contract to rehabilitate the EN230, on the N’Dalatando-Caxilo stretch, in Kwanza Norte, covering 45 km, was awarded today to OMATAPALO by the Minister for Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, and should be completed in 24 months. The work guarantees 320 jobs.

The consignment ceremony was presided over by the Minister for Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, and was also attended by the Provincial Governor of Kwanza Norte, Pedro Armando JĂșlia, the Director General of INEA, Henrique Vitorino, and the Municipal Administrator of Cazengo, Malundo Fausto Catessamo, along with representatives of the contractor.

The work to be carried out by OMATAPALO consists of rehabilitating and reinforcing the sidewalk, using high-quality materials, most of which are produced in Angola.

The work aims to improve safe traffic conditions on what is one of the country’s most important roads, linking the capital, Luanda, to Saurimo, crossing the provinces of Bengo, Kwanza Norte, Malanje, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul, with a subsequent connection to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“The rehabilitation of the EN230 is of the utmost importance for the populations concerned, as well as the movement of goods. Acting as a kind of logistical corridor between Angola and the DRC, it will have a special impact on the development of agricultural and mining activities, facilitating the flow of products from both sectors,” says Edmar Manuel, spokesman for OMATAPALO.

OMATAPALO, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is also the contractor responsible for building the bridge linking Malanje to the capital of Lunda Sul, Saurimo.

In addition to these projects, OMATAPALO’s portfolio includes other structuring projects all over the country. These include the EN100, EN190, Lubango Outer Ring Road, Tundavala Road, Lubango Integrated Infrastructures, improvements to secondary and tertiary roads in Luanda province, among others.
