The food collection campaign promoted by the Angola Food Bank (BAA) last weekend in nearly three dozen commercial areas in Luanda, Benguela and Huíla, with the support of the OMATAPALO Group, raised 13,619 kg of various foodstuffs, which will start being distributed from next Thursday, 30 November, to 25 institutions supported by the Bank.
OMATAPALO joined this campaign, with more than 300 volunteer employees from various Group companies at the collection points, as part of a partnership announced last June with the BAA, which aims to support the fight against hunger and food insecurity, and which will also include incentives for national production.
The food collected will begin to be distributed to 25 institutions in Luanda, Benguela, Huíla and Cabinda – in the latter two provinces for the first time – from next Thursday until June next year, when the next campaign will be held, again with the support of OMATAPALO.
“The fight against hunger and malnutrition, as well as support for communities, are strategic themes for OMATAPALO, so this partnership with the BAA, as part of our Social Responsibility policy, makes perfect sense, contributing to an objective we have in common with this institution: improving the living conditions of those who need it most, especially children,” says OMATAPALO spokesman Edmar Manuel.
“The support of hundreds of OMATAPALO volunteers in this campaign was very important for us to achieve these results, which will benefit thousands of children and people in many institutions,” said BAA president Henrique Nunes.
In addition to OMATAPALO, last weekend’s food collection campaign had the support of other institutions, such as Atlântico, Deloitte and the São Joaquim Scout Group, as well as individual volunteers.
The food will benefit 25 institutions supported by the BAA, namely AACRA, ASSTI, A AVO, ABRIGO, ARNALDO JANSEN, ASSOCIAÇÃO AMIGOS DO KÉSSUA, ASSOCIAÇÃO BOM SAMARITANO, BEIRAL, CASA DO GAIATO BENGUELA, CAREMA, CENTRO CULTURAL JOVENS EM CRISTO, BOA NOVA SOCIAL CENTRE, SANTA BARBARA SOCIAL CENTRE, DON BOSCO, DIVINA PROVIDÊNCIA, EL BETHEL, HORIZONTE AZUL, LAR DA NAZARÉ, LAR SANTA ISABEL, MAMA MADALENA, MAMA MUXIMA MALANGE, MISFRON, MISSÃO CATÓLICA DO TCHIVINGUIRO, REMAR AND SANTA PAULA FRASSINETTI.
